We've been to Kilauea Bakery several times. The desserts have always been very good. I had some of their pizza during my last visit, which was good as well. There aren't as many restaurants on the north shore as there are down near Lihue/Kapa'a. My wife and sister-in-law shared a sesame chicken plate, which they raved about (I got a bite and it was delicious). The service has been kinda spotty, I think it depends on who helps you behind the counter. No one is surly, but no smiles either.

Ho hum food, sloppy service in a very dirty atmosphere.
I would not recommend it to my friends. Hippy girls in flip-flops serving the food.

Had take out pizza(plain and shrimp scampi) both delicious with a wonderful garlicky crust. Mac nut butter cookies and cinnamon buns are tasty too. We called ahead for our pizza, ready when we got there 30 minutes later. Pleasant and efficient service. We'll be back

If you're staying on the North Shore of Kaua'i and looking for nothing beyond a great pizza, look no further than Pau Hana Pizza. Located right behind the more heavily advertised Kilauea Bistro, this Mom and Pop eatery came recommended from two of our resort staff. It's BYOB, so bring a bottle opener and/or a corkscrew (and maybe some real glasses if you don't want to drink out of a paper cup) but the pizza itself was well above average (based on our Veggie Delux). Oh, and did I mention that the pizzaria doubles as a bakery? So after dinner, indulge in one of their wide selection of homemade desserts, such as the blueberry almond bread pudding or the coconut cream-filled chocolate eclairs (and they will pack them to-go). The atmosphere is nothing to rave about (though they do have a few outdoor tables in a nice courtyard setting) but don't go for the atmosphere (you can pay big bucks for that next door), go for the pizza!
