We booked a "beach-front" view, but we mostly had a view of a big orange and yellow tent (the cabana) and the pool. We were in a 1-bdrm studio, #31, in the Hanoloa building. It appears that the even numbered rooms have a better view than the odd numbers (because of the way the building is staggered). We asked to switch rooms, but they wanted to charge us a room-change fee, so we didn't switch. For the price, I don't think the "beach-front" room was worth it.
However, it was a very clean, nice facility. The room had A/C and was in very good shape. We enjoyed lounging on the beach as well as the hottub. They gave fresh beach towels whenever you wanted them and had nice beach chairs. However, there weren't really any shaded areas. It was great to be able to cook in the room and eat on the lanai. But, the lanai itself was only separated from the neighbors by simple screen (if you booked two adjacent rooms, you could have opened the screen to have one very large lanai, which could be nice), This was a little uncomfortable if you both happened to be out at the same time. It is non-smoking, even on the lanai, which was a huge plus.
I would not recommend the on-site restaurant, The Sea House. We went there for afternoon drinks/snacks. The food was okay, but the drinks were very watered down and the wait staff was incredibly rude and slow. And, of course, everything was very over-priced.
It's definitely a "family" resort -- there were kids running around and screaming everywhere. Definitely not the best for a romantic getaway.
It is a beautiful beach and the resort grounds are really well-kept, but I was very disappointed in paying so much for "the view".
