As we are making plans to go back to the Ho House in October (booked the Kohola Suite back in March of this year), I wanted to
see what the latest is at Trip Advisor.
I can't believe this isn't the #1 rated B&B in all of Maui!

As you walk into the front Bali doors and look into a glass walled living room that is embraced by the Pacific Ocean, one can't help thinking Brad and Angela will walk out any moment (without all those kids, of course). It is truly spectacular.

We loved the open air breezeways to the rooms (not cottages) with geckos and art work intermingled.

We are booking the same room we stayed in last fall-the Kohola Suite. We just loved being steps away from the pool and having a lanai that overlooked that incredible view. And of course, the outside shower. I loved the soap and shampoo products they used-the smell mixed in with the fresh air while showering was a dream.

The only time we saw other couples was at breakfast time. We spent 2 whole days just hanging at the house and we felt like we were the only ones there-which was exactly the experience we wanted.

We loved the massage on the lanai. It was so relaxing; we couldn't go anywhere that night.
We felt our interaction with the Dan and Amy was perfect-saw Dan when we arrived and saw him when we left. You barely knew they were around yet the place operated beautifully-always clean, great healthy breakfasts, and the office dorr open incase you needed him.

If you are looking for a place where you can seriously unwind and disconnect from your hectic life, this is it. The minute you walk in, anything that was nagging you is gone. IMMERSE yourself in the calming the Ho'oilo House surrounds you with.

This is one of the best bed and breakfasts that we have ever stayed in! My husband and I wanted a romantic place to spend our 10 year wedding anniversary. This was the place! We loved the outdoor shower and the views. The breakfast was simple yet fresh and was a good start to the day.

Amy and Dan were awesome and gave us plenty of space (I am baffled about the other reviews below). We can't wait to come back!

This is just the most wonderful place we have ever stayed! It is very serene and peaceful and not in the middle of all of the tourist bustle like many of the resorts. We felt like we had the place to ourselves, even though we would occasionally see other couples. I am very suprised by the comment below about the hosts being intrusive, we had the exact opposite experience. They were very friendly and willing to help, but we never felt like we were obliged to have long conversations with them or with anyone else that was staying there. So I'm completely mystified by how anyone could think otherwise. I'm a pretty private person, too, I usually don't go out of my way to talk to people I don't know.

Definitely the best part was the outdoor showers. We stayed in both Nalu and Kohola, both facing the ocean and I can't describe the awesome feeling of showering in the fresh air with a view of the ocean. Amazing!!!

You basically can have the place to yourself during the day, and it was fun to hang out at the pool with the fountains running.

Definitely have a massage on your lanai!

The whole grounds and house are beautiful, with the ocean in front and the mountains behind it makes for a very picturesque spot. I really can't say enough about Ho'oilo House.

My husband and I just returned from Maui. We celebrated our 1 yr anniversary by returning to Ho'oilo House. We were married there last year so this was our 2nd stay ... I was just too lazy to write last year. :) We stayed at HH the first 4 nights of our trip.

Ho'oilo House is amazing. It is my favorite place that I have EVER stayed. I think everything about HH is perfect. The location, the house itself, the hosts, the breakfast, the pool ... everything! Even the little geckos that run about at night (it is a tropical island afterall).

We stayed in the Wailele suite this year and it was beautiful. Very spacious with a comfortable bed. My favorite part of HH though is the outdoor shower ... it is so relaxing and refreshing to shower outdoors, the wind blowing across your face and enjoying the beautiful scenery. I also love the tub and force myself (I know, rough life) to take a daily bubble bath as well while at HH. Wailele has a large lanai that faces the mountains ... so peaceful to sit out there and relax.

Last year we stayed in the Nalu suite ... just as beautiful. It is smaller than Wailele but the view makes up for it. It sits in the back of the house and looks out to the ocean ... you can literally stare at the Pacific while showering in the outdoor shower. It is so beautiful.

The pool is very nice. Small and intimate, and you will most likely have it to yourself if you decide to layout. Actually, you will feel like you have the whole property to yourself ... even if there are other guests ... you rarely run into them. Maybe just at breakfast or in passing. Speaking of breakfast ... the HH prepares an amazing spread. It is simple (muffins, hard boiled eggs, granola, fruit, etc) but it is so good! Very fresh! And my favorite is the POG juice ... yum! I swear that is one of things I look forward to most.

Almost forgot ... the hosts, Amy & Dan, they are great! Very friendly and helpful. They are never in your face or bothering you, but if you want to have a nice chat they will chat away. Dan is really very nice and a great guy. I hope to get to know Amy more on our next visits (definitely going back!). I actually had to go to the ER while in Maui (slipped in a tidepool and sliced my finger open) and Dan was really a great help getting my insurance info for us (I left it in the room).

I only have 2 suggestions for HH ... upgrades to flatscreens w/ DVD players and serve POG all day! :)

I give HH a big thumbs up (and then some)! If you are thinking of vacationing on Maui you MUST stay at Ho'oilo House. There is no way you could regret it. If you are a honeymooner HH is perfect ... quiet and secluded so you can just enjoy the romance!
