“Loved the tranquility”

Ho'oilo House

Using this website and family for research my husband and I chose to stay at this fine Bed & breakfast to begin our honeymoon.
Amy was there the first day to greet us and was so helpful with any questions that we had about the property.
The Place-
Throughout our stay island and easy listening music was played (your choice to turn it on in your room). I always looked forward to coming back from our daily ventures to relax in our room, either in the beautiful pool our private lania or the bathtub.
The pool was so pretty and the view of the ocean was so peaceful.
Our room was great. The bed is very comfortable and you can tell that Amy and Dan pay attention to the comfort that their customers need for a good nights sleep. I had no problems with anything and throughly enjoyed the outdoor shower.
Food-
Breakfast of baked muffins (so yummy), hard boiled eggs, fresh juice, fruit and yogurts were served and it was enough for everyone.
Water bottles were provided to each bedroom and a water cooler is in the foyer so that you can have fresh cold water for your day. You can tell that they are paying attention to environmental concerns with plastic bottles.
The best compliment I could give is that if I could return I would. Dan really went out of his way for us and it just seems to come naturally to him. I can only hope that people enjoy this wonderfully tranquil place as we did.
Other-
They also have tour books that you can borrow while you stay. We had brought our own, but it is always good to browse through other books. (We also used Dan a lot for food recommendations and hikes).
Owners-
I only saw Amy once so I can really only write about Dan.
Dan is a wonderfully resourceful person and I believe that the Hoo'ilo reflects what he wants to give back to the island. He is very personable and helpful with island information and hiking adventures. I could only wish that this establishment was closer to my home to send family away for a relaxing vacation.
Dan you have done a great job with the place!

The Ho'oilo House was a paradise tucked away in the mountains near Lahaina. We loved the peaceful, private nature of the property, as it continually felt like we had the pool, house and scenery to ourselves. Our time at Ho'oilo was our first three days of our honeymoon, and it provided with an environment that allowed us to relax and truly enjoy the natural beauty of Maui. Amy and Dan were excellent hosts and were helpful as we made plans to figure out what we would do and where we would eat each day. If you are looking for a relaxing, beautiful setting where you will feel like the island is yours alone, this is your spot. If you're looking for all the amenities of a full-service resort, go to one. I strongly recommend the former, Ho'oilo House, to the latter. It was a perfect place to stay.

“Absolutely Perfect”

Ho'oilo House

My wife and I stayed at Ho'oilo House for six nights in the Nalu room as we celebrated our ten year anniversary (even though we were on year 11 by the time our trip happened). Everything we were looking for in our Maui vacation accommodations came to be, without question. Our priorities were the following:

1) Close to the action, but not immersed in the resort circus
2) Beautiful location
3) Quiet and peaceful setting

We didn't cross paths with Amy, but Dan was more than willing to help out with a restaurant suggestion or Hawaii information when approached. To some of the comments/posts below, we found that their interaction/presence was just right (available when we had a question, and behind the scenes when we were after privacy). From our viewpoint - an excellent B&B host.

As for the property - it was truly spectacular. Unbelievable views of the ocean/other islands from the property/lanai/outdoor shower/bed. Prior posts have discussed the wonderful West Maui mountain setting on one side with the Pacific on the other. Very nicely maintained property with a great house design and layout.

The Nalu room was just what we were after - nice bed, large tub, great view, and as mentioned above (and our favorite to go along with basically every other post), the outdoor shower overlooking the Pacific with a great look at the sunset to boot.

Ho'oilo was a key piece of a fabulous, relaxing, and enjoyable vacation. We wholeheartedly recommend this to other travelers after the same things we were looking for.

Thanks again Dan and Amy for a great experience (and Dan, thanks again for the reschedule....)

Mahalo,

Vic and Eileen Avram

“Ho Withdrawals”

Ho'oilo House

As we are making plans to go back to the Ho House in October (booked the Kohola Suite back in March of this year), I wanted to
see what the latest is at Trip Advisor.
I can't believe this isn't the #1 rated B&B in all of Maui!

As you walk into the front Bali doors and look into a glass walled living room that is embraced by the Pacific Ocean, one can't help thinking Brad and Angela will walk out any moment (without all those kids, of course). It is truly spectacular.

We loved the open air breezeways to the rooms (not cottages) with geckos and art work intermingled.

We are booking the same room we stayed in last fall-the Kohola Suite. We just loved being steps away from the pool and having a lanai that overlooked that incredible view. And of course, the outside shower. I loved the soap and shampoo products they used-the smell mixed in with the fresh air while showering was a dream.

The only time we saw other couples was at breakfast time. We spent 2 whole days just hanging at the house and we felt like we were the only ones there-which was exactly the experience we wanted.

We loved the massage on the lanai. It was so relaxing; we couldn't go anywhere that night.
We felt our interaction with the Dan and Amy was perfect-saw Dan when we arrived and saw him when we left. You barely knew they were around yet the place operated beautifully-always clean, great healthy breakfasts, and the office dorr open incase you needed him.

If you are looking for a place where you can seriously unwind and disconnect from your hectic life, this is it. The minute you walk in, anything that was nagging you is gone. IMMERSE yourself in the calming the Ho'oilo House surrounds you with.

This is one of the best bed and breakfasts that we have ever stayed in! My husband and I wanted a romantic place to spend our 10 year wedding anniversary. This was the place! We loved the outdoor shower and the views. The breakfast was simple yet fresh and was a good start to the day.

Amy and Dan were awesome and gave us plenty of space (I am baffled about the other reviews below). We can't wait to come back!
