The hotel is located in the theatre and art gallery centre of SF very close to Union Square and all forms of transportation. As a result we found it well placed for all the touristy stuff we needed to do over 4 days. Above all the staff at the hotel were excellent, notably Joel who goes the extra mile to help you. He works Mon to Fri. The rooms are ok, not to top hotel standards but perfectly comfortable and well equipped. The restaurant, which is operated by others, is first class. Really good Californian food served by well trained staff who deserve the 20% service charge so much so that we ate there twice!! We would choose to stay there again if in SF, so that says enough. Oh, also reasonably priced for that city.

“Central Location”

Hotel Adagio

4 of 5 stars
New York, NY

We stayed at the Hotel Adagio for 2 nights over Labor Day, having found a great promotional rate of $99 a night through hotwire. It is very conveniently located near Union Square (great shopping and you can also hop on the trolleys there) and also only a short walk from the BART stop, which we took to and from the airport (fyi--this is very quick and easy and saves a bundle on cabs).

Though the hotel was still working a few kinks related to the renovation (e.g. humidifiers in the hallways), we could not have been more pleased with the experience given the rate we paid. They clearly spent the most money redoing the lobby/bar area, but the rooms are also very comfortable and the staff is eager to please. The lobby has a beautiful selection of coffee and teas each morning and afternoon as well as complimentary fruit as an afternoon snack.

I am not sure I would pay the full rate to stay here but if you can get a discount then I would highly recommend it.

“Excellent boutique hotel in San Francisco with great location”

Hotel Adagio

5 of 5 stars
Phoenix, AZ

The Hotel Adagio is a wonderful boutique hotel located in the heart of San Francisco. When we arrived we were warmly welcomed and since we arrived around 1800, the front desk person, Joel, offered to make us restaurant reservations at a small Italian place up the road. We felt that was very helpful, allowing us to drop our bag offs and just go straight out to dinner instead of trying to decide where to go on our first night there.

The lobby is modern and very classy. They have a nice small bar and restaurant there. We never tried it, but it looked very inviting.

We had a wonderful room on the 14th floor. If you don't mind heights, I would definitely ask for a high floor as the views are very nice. The room had a flat panel television with a nice selection of channels. They also provide a stereo and you can request an adapter from the front desk to attach your ipod to it. There is a mini-fridge in the room which is your typical mini-bar. We asked the person who brought our bags to the room if it was a refrigerator, and he said no, it was a mini-bar, but did we want the items removed so we could use it to store our own items, some wine and cheese we brought along. We said, yes please and within 10 minutes all the contents were removed and we had our own little fridge. I thought this was a very nice touch, it shows they were more concerned with our comfort than with the profit they may have made off the min-bar ( which wouldn't have been anything anyway as we don't use them). A very nice touch.

The room was clean, bed was very comfortable, furniture very nice. The windows even opened here! We loved the cool San Francisco breezes at night. Of course you are downtown and on a busy street, so if you don't mind the traffic and fire engines, then enjoy the open windows. If not, you can close them and have peace and quiet, as they are all double paned.

The hotel is located in the Tenderloin area. Not the best, but I used to live about a block away in the 70's and the area has been undergoing some improvements. You are a few blocks from Union Square where all the great stores are, large and small. From Union Square you can get anywhere, North Beach, Chinatown or Fisherman's Wharf. We walked back to the hotel many times at 2200- 2300 at night, no problems.

While you are there, I would suggest heading around the corner to Dotties True Blue Cafe, 522 Jones St. Best breakfast in the city. Get there early or be prepared to wait in line. It's small, but the food is excellent and well worth the wait. The hotel staff gave us this hint. The next street west is Jones and you can walk there and see Dotties down the street. If there is a line, you can call in your order and then go down, walk to the front of the line, pick up your order and eat it in your room.

A Great hotel in a great city! Highly recommended

“Loving it in San Francisco thanks to Hotel Adagio!”

Hotel Adagio

5 of 5 stars
Salt Lake City, Utah
Jul 15, 2008

From the moment we stepped through the large doors into the spacious, cool, clean and impressive reception area, we felt welcome. The room was incredible, with plush beds, bedding and pillows (my Son said he could have stayed in them our entire trip)! There were snacks and beverages waiting for us in our room also, which was a wonderful bonus. The restroom was sanitized, sparkling, and maintained our entire stay. Beyond this there was a comfortable chair with ottoman; desk with office chair; a flat panel TV; closet with robes, ironing board and iron, hangers, shelves, and a safe which we could program ourselves. They had a restaurant; room service; and laundry service.
The Adagio was within walking distance to San Francisco's Cable cars, and our ride was only minutes to Fisherman's Wharf, the Golden Gate Bridge, China Town, and other famous sites of the city.
I must admit, the favorite part of this stay, for me, was the unbelievably caring, compassionate, knowledgeable and friendly staff at The Adagio. The persons at the front desk, two in-particular, Kimberly and Gizelle, whom were the two we saw most, were adoptable! They were beyond helpful with suggestions for restaurants nearby; how and where to get cable car tickets and where best to catch them; and different things we could go do. I loved the special attention that they paid to my children. That, in itself, was gold!
When it came time for us to leave, and we didn't want to, their doorman got us a beautiful town-car with driver, to take us to the airport...much better than the shuttle, and only a little more out of pocket when traveling with three-or-more persons.
My Son, Daughter, and myself would recommend this fine establishment to everyone!

“Fantastic Hotel!”

Hotel Adagio

We stayed four nights in Hotel Adagio in San Francisco. The hotel locations is execellent close to Union Squre. The Hotel was recently renwed so rooms look very nice. Rooms also bigger than normal. Staff is very friendly at both reception and restaurant Cortez. Breakfast in such restaurant is very good. Pay attention if you have a car: valet parking (with taxes) costs aproximately USD 40 each night. At all a nice place where to go again!
