Due to United Airlines' ineptitude (delays from Chicago to Boston), I missed a flight overseas from Boston and had to spend the night in Boston. The Travellers Aid desk at Logan Airport found a room for me for the night at the Seaport Hotel. It was a little more than I had hoped to pay, but due to the basketball tournament and conventions in town, I was happy to have a room.
The Seaport is probably not a place I would have chosen on my own, but I liked it. I can't say enough about the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff - everyone from front desk to housekeeping. They were very accommodating to me when I was quite upset about missing the flight and gave me pointers on where to go, where to buy things, etc. They also let me check out late because I didn't get to the hotel until nearly midnight, which I thought was nice.
My room was very comfortable. The bed was heavenly. There was a fridge and the air conditioner worked well. The bathroom was nice and I liked the complimentary bath products. The coffeeshop downstairs was great.
I liked the location - walking distance to downtown, near a "T" stop, with some restaurants and stores in the area.
My only major complaints were that the hotel design and interior is kind of "sterile", and also my room was next to an elevator shaft which was quite noisy.
All in all, however, I had a good stay at the Seaport and want to thank them for their service with a smile when I was probably a somewhat crabby individual after missing my flight. Also I had a good time exploring Boston!
