“Sleek and beautiful”

Colonnade Hotel

I stayed at the Colonnade hotel with a group on business. As I understand, the hotel underwent a recent renovation and I thought it was beautifully done. The rooms are spacious, very comfortable and the bathroom was just fantastic. Modern, but not too many gadgets or weird touches. I was staying in a room closest to the elevator, but it was absolutely pin-drop quiet, and I am a very light sleeper.

Location is great as well; it's close to several great restaurants but, in my opinion, the best one is its own restaurant, Brasserie Jo. A wonderful restaurant, I think. I arrived at the hotel very sick, and getting some roast chicken from Brasserie Jo brought me back to life. There is also a Brasserie Jo in Chicago, but I thought this one was even better.

Service was quite wonderful as well - when I asked for several extra hangers, a bellman was at my door with half a dozen within minutes.

Since my group had a meeting there, the refreshments, lunch & snacks were provided by the hotel, and they were very tasty, with lots of healthy and interesting choices. The best meeting food I have had yet.

I would recommend it to anyone wholeheartedly.

“Just okay at the Colonnade”

Colonnade Hotel

We stayed at the Colonnade for a week over the Fourth of July. The room was nice and felt very clean, but it was on the small side for two adults and two teens. The bathroom was also small.

The location was pretty good, it was especially easy to walk back from the fireworks on July 4 and we liked the proximity to the Prudential Center, Starbucks and Barnes and Noble.

Little details keep this from being a first-rate hotel, though. Our in-room safe never worked even though maintenance came up to fix it; they put a $500 charge through on a credit card ($100 per night) to cover incidentals) even though we never used them; random staff member came into the room one afternoon to deliver a Gatorade to the mini-bar and seemed to be shocked when he found us sitting in the room; we were charged twice for the wireless card even though we were I-Prefer members and should have gotten it for free. Nothing major, but little things that added up to make it a less than perfect stay.

The rooftop pool was nice and it was nice to have it as an option for a mid-afternoon break from the city.

Would we stay here again? If the rate was good. Otherwise, there are many other choices that seem like they may have been better.

“Loved it”

One of the few hotels that I have given 5 stars. Stayed for 2 nights and really enjoyed the experience.

The hotel has recently been renovated and it really shows. the rooms are excellent in every way. All mod cons, comfort, nice views. The bathroom was small but very modern and functional.

A crib was provded for my baby and I have to say it was better than any crib other hotels have provided.

The hotel has a restaurant and we were offered 15% off our 1st visit there.

The location is good and is in close proximkity to the Prudential and Copley shopping centres. Theres some great restaurants nearby too. Bear in mind that the hotel is a half hour walk from the main boston downtown area and the location is more suited to shopping.

“Excellent Service”

Colonnade Hotel

I recently had my wedding at the Colonnade Hotel and stayed for two nights in their suite. Let me first comment on the wedding. It was absolutely fabulous! Every single details was seen to, taken care of, and executed just as discussed and agreed upon. Having dealt with many vendors and many events, they were top-notch in that department. Truly delicious food, wonderful presentation, just perfect. I cannot sing their praises enough. Courtney (the sales manager) did a wonderful job setting up and overseeing everything. All of the waiters and bar tenders were so polite and gracious.... really excellent service. The service extends to other parts of the hotel. Peter at the concierge was absolutely wonderful. From setting up hair appointments for our out of town guests to reserving seats for a duck tour for a group of 20, not task was too difficult for him to handle. He was an absolute pleasure! Every single bell check and doorman was also helpful, courteous, and efficient.

As for the room, we stayed in the Suite which was fabulous. Wonderful modern decor throughout, it was quite breathtaking when we walked in. Huge living room with flat screen tv, bathroom with 2 rooms (1 for the shower and 1 sink, and another for the toilet and another sink), dining table, and seperate bedroom with king size bed and desk with chairs, flat screen tv (number 2) and chaise. It was truly beautiful and spacious, one of the best bridal suites in the city! (I had toured all the hotels and their suites... it's an important feature to consider!). The beds were extremely comfortable!! My only complaint was this: the next morning we noticed that our toilet was not flushing properly. We called maintenance, who came to check it out. He said he had to snake it (im not sure what that means), but we were on our way out. We cam back at 1am, assuming that the toilet had been fixed, and when we used it and flushed, it of course wasn't working properly. My husband called maintenance again (it's 1:30am, I went to bed!) and they 'fixed' it. The next morning, the toilet still did not work. Now, I understand that this is an old building, and they have made many expensive renovations to the building, and I was hoping that essentials like plumbing would have been one of them. While this didnt completely ruin our stay, it is something to consider. There service had been 100% perfect up until that moment, so unfortunately I cannot give this hotel an Excellent rating. They did apologize down at the front desk and give us some compensation for our trouble. As always, they were helpful, gracious and service-oriented.

Overall, this is an excellent hotel. The decor is beautiful and modern in the rooms. I saw some normal guestrooms (as many guests from the wedding stayed overnight) and the rooms were about average size, with an average size bathroom as well. Very comfortable, but I'm not sure worht the price for this time of year. The service throughout the hotel however is top-notch. I would definitely recommend having an event here; food, ambiance, decor and service were all EXCELLENT. The guestrooms are also beautifully renovated.

“Great Bed, Service & Location for Conference; Thumbs Up for Restaurant”

Colonnade Hotel

5 of 5 stars
Dane County, Wisconsin

Stayed a week for a conference at conference rates. Nice (but not perfect) features in room. Useful round table with two chairs, good for eating or working. Wired internet connection at table. Closet has a safe -- good size for laptop, very useful. Frig would have been useful. There is a pricey mini-bar instead :-( Lost satellite TV during 2 different storms, but service came back quickly.

Front desk was helpful and accurate whenever we had questions. (Many places have polite staff -- but they don't always know what they are talking about even in their own hotel!) Reliable bellmen, taxi stand.

Maid service was excellent and very, very quick. At least on 10th floor, they start servicing rooms around 8 a.m., fyi. No plastic "do not disturb" signs; instead, button to push near the door lights up signs for service or dnd.

King bed was firm, supportive and comfortable. Lots of pillows. Comforter and sheets very smooth. [After 5 days, did notice a few feathers/down from pillows at least. Agree with other poster that allergic folks might have a problem.]

The Cheesecake Factory is right across the street; popular Legal Seafood has location in Prudential Center too.

Tips: Join frequent stay program ahead of time, get pricey internet access for free instead. "I prefer"

Brasserie Jo restaurant in hotel has wonderful food and serves all three meals. Great steak and other French-accented dishes were wonderful choice when we got in late (10 p.m.) from airport. Couldn't have found a better Sat. night dinner if we'd taken a long cab ride. Attentive servers. Lots of beer, wine and cocktail choices. Also had killer eggs benedict made with lobster for decadent breakfast later in the week.
