“A MUST!”

Colonnade Hotel

Aug 25, 2008

I had never been to Boston. I cannot begin to tell what a home run this place is. From the moment I checked in, I was practically knocked over with niceness. Holli, the girl that took care of me at the front desk was super pleasant and accomodating. The room was UNBELIEVABLE. The bed was comfortable, the shower was strong and the mini bar was fully stocked and had plenty of options. There was a great flat screen TV and a DVD player, along with a radio that had a hookup for my iPod.

Denton, the Conceirge, was knowledgeable and made reservations for us. Even the doormen were all smiles.

The best part is their rooftop pool. What a GREAT setup there. Wait staff brought food and drinks. The pool was clean and the towels fluffy.

Top notch all the way. The location was perfect with a T stop right outside the door and walking distance to everything.

The only Cons: they make you pay for wireless internet access and it gave 2 bars strength. For the pricetag, I thought they should comp it.

“Loved it!”

We were very impressed with this hotel. The rooms were very clean and beds comfortable. The room was nicely decorated. There were some unnecessary big pillows on the bed but we just took them off. The staff was friendly and professional. The food at Brasserie Joe in the hotel was excellent as were the servers. The parking was pricey and I thought there should have been free internet for what we were paying for the room. We had an awesome view from our room and our children enjoyed the roof top pool. I enjoyed the view of Fenway Park!! The entire hotel was classy and clean. Only complaint was high cost of parking and no free internet.

“As expected”

Stayed for 3 nights. Room as expected from photos on website, but bathroom smaller than it looks in the pictures. Comfortable bed with plenty of pointless cushions on top (but no more than a lot of other hotels - don't really understand the point of it, but then I'm not an interior designer) Only one bathrobe in room but another sent up when requested (actually another 2 sent up?!) , our NYC hotel only had one robe as well, another thing I don't understand when the room is for two guests.

Room well equipped with everything you require, fridge with minibar (extortionate as usual) that we emptied and filled with our own stuff, luckily not one of those that charges you as soon as you remove something.

Rooftop pool OK - quite small.

Location OK - T station right at front door and right across from Prudential centre if shopping is your thing.

Decent value for Boston for price we paid.

“Loved the Colonnade! GREAT location and friendly staff”

This was our first trip to Boston. We spent 3 nights at the Colonnade and loved it. The location is perfect for access to Fenway, the T and shopping. The concierge was very friendly and helpful. The roof top pool is an added bonus.

Unless you have an unlimited budget, I highly recommend this hotel and believe it is a great value for the money.

“Not Thrilled”

We stayed at the Colonnade because of it's close proximity to Northeastern University. It is also within walking distance to Fenway and the T stop is right outside the front doors. The rooms were small, but nice and modern. The beds were very comfortable. The bathrooms are tiny and lacking counter space. There were no mirrors in the room other than the bathroom, making it very difficult for our family to get ready in the morning. Lighting is poor also. The hallways are so dark that we had a hard time reading room numbers. Towels were never left when the room was cleaned and our room keys didn't work twice in our short 2 day stay. Parking was outrageous- $78 for 2 days. Unless I got some great deal, I would not stay here again.

Management Response

We're very sad to hear that you weren't thrilled with your recent stay! However, we're glad that you commented positively about the location, the plush pillow-top beds and the contemporary room design. Every guest room offers a floor length mirror in the bedroom in addition to the bathroom mirror and the make-up mirror. Our marble vanities were designed to offer plenty of lay down space and we’re sorry you did not find them adequate for your family. We took note of your lighting comment and will continue to monitor feedback like this. While our parking rates are at or below the rates of all neighboring garages, there is no excuse for your keys not to work or the towel replenishment. For that, we are extremely sorry and apologize for the inconvenience this caused you. We hope that you give us another opportunity to win your confidence back.
