We stayed for five nights and for the price, $209 for 2nd fl marina view room and $169 for 1st fl no view room, we felt that we received what we paid for.
I would rate the location as a 5 and the hotel as a 3.
We had a car so it was a great location ...easy drive to downtown, Old Town, waterfront, La Jolla, Zoo, etc....while only incurring a $5 a night parking fee,
The hotel is dated...it was build in the early 80s and not much has changed. Other than some of the stained chairs at the bar and eating area, it appeared to be very clean.
We found we did not need air conditioning at night. We just left the sliding door open and let the breeze and the stars in. BEAUTIFUL. Our best view except for hotel in Maui.
Staff is five star...very nice people and housekeeping a 5+ star (we tipped accordingly).
Breakfast was OK with a good variety and was the only meal we ate at the hotel. Mattress was firm and comfortable but get rid of the pillows with the shams. For all of us the bathroom was the issue. Florescent lighing provided very little light which was a bit scary at night.....Ok so I'm particular about my bathrooms.
Other reviewers mentioned the noise from the concerts at Humpreys next door. We are night owls so we only heard a bit of one, Dolly Parton. I believe these end around 10 p.m. I just wish we had known about them ahead of time so we could have purchased tickets.
Pool looked very well maintained and kids looked like they were having a good time. There was also an outside whirlpool.
Would we stay there again? Yes, but I would bring a light for the bathroom
Love San Diego....lots to do. Take a look at my restaurant reviews....we found some good ones.
Petco field was beautiful....Go Padres
