“Good Deal for the Price”

I stayed at the Sheraton Philadelphia City Center this weekend and overall the trip was good! I do have to say that when I called two days before arrival to inquire about parking I was told that self-parking was $25 and valet was $35. When I got to the hotel and checked in I was told that self-parking was $35 and valet was $40. I explained to the woman behind the counter that when I called two days prior, a gentleman for the hotel quoted me a parking price that was different from what she was stating. The woman was less than accomodating and insisted that no one from the hotel would tell me $25??? But the best part is when I left and turned in my parking ticket and was charged $34!!! I think that the staff at the hotel are all on a different page and be aware you may get a different story depending who you're talking to. The room itself was clean, spacious and had a great view, just don't expect superior customer service from the staff.

“Great location, a little shabby around the edges”

My husband and I were in Philadelphia last weekend and we stayed at the Sheraton in Center City. The location was great--very close to City Hall and directly down JFK from the Art Museum. We were only a couple of blocks from all of the great shopping and restaurants on Chestnut and Wallnut streets.

The room decor was standard for the Sheraton. The comfortable king-sized bed was covered in a deep blue duvet with gold pin stripes, the windows were dressed with a blue plaid shade. The room and bathroom were spacious and clean, though it looked as if the rooms had been remodeled about 8 years ago--nothing looked particularly new or fresh. All of the normal business amenities were available. There was a nice-sized desk and internet access for a fee. The wake up calls were reliable and the staff were helpful and pleasant.

The hotel has a fitness center and a pool , which is a nice bonus as well.

Overall, I would recommend the Sheraton in Center City for business or tourism, but try booking air and hotel together to get a better deal unless you have lots of Starwood points to use!

“Not a Great Hotel!”

Sheraton Philadelphia City Center Hotel

The hotel was ok, but I have stayed in much better hotels in the city and was not satifited. First when we checked in we could not have our bed choice. I did call ahead to see if I could get one queen bed, and they told me that since I booked through priceline that we get whatever they had. The only other thing that happened is there was a condom wrapper within the sheets. That is unacceptedable for a 3 and a half star hotel. I would not waste your money on this hotel!

“Liked Philly Sheraton- would stay again”

Sheraton Philadelphia City Center Hotel

I stayed at the Sheraton Philadelphia for 2 nights on business in Sept/Oct 2008 and enjoyed my stay. There is nothing too special about this hotel though so that is why it is just above average.

Check in was smooth. I am a gold member and was given a room on the 25th floor. My room was quite clean and standard for a Sheraton. The bathroom was clean and had plenty of room. The hair dryer looked quite old but worked fine. The TV didn't have many stations. Internet worked well.

I ate breakfast at the Club lounge and found it to be a good selection and very convenient.

The gym was OK- I went early one morning and it was not too crowded. I also went running in the area the other morning- I recommend this if time allows.

Check out was smooth

“Don't let the bed bugs bite!”

Sheraton Philadelphia City Center Hotel

2 of 5 stars
Washington, DC
Sep 29, 2008

I was on business travel September 17-19, 2008 and stayed at the Sheraton Philadelphia City Center. The staff was friendly and the property looked nice. However, the first morning, around 5am, I awoke to find a bed bug, the size of an apple seed in the sheets with me. I imagine if I had not gotten up when I did, I would have been bitten. I caught the critter in glass and coverd it with one of the paper coasters the hotel provides its guests and wrote a note to the housekeeping staff explaining the situation. I did not think about it at the time but I should have taken a picture of it. I was moved to another room but still very freaked out and paranoid that I was going to find more or get bitten. Be ware!
