I visited this hotel July 21, 2008. We were just staying overnight after a long drive from visit with family in northeastern PA, so we were a bit travel-weary.
First, the staff. Every single person I spoke to, from the reservations agent to the room service waiter to the shuttle driver was incredibly friendly and accommodating, and went out of their way to be helpful. I couldn't have been more pleased. (OK, maybe i was coming off of four days with cranky extended family, but still!)
The soundproofing was excellent. If our connecting rooms hadn't had a view of the runway, I never would have known we were at an airport hotel. (And a note to parents - ask for a room with this view, it amused my 5-year-old for HOURS. You can also see the huge container ships from the Port of Philadelphia on the Delaware River, which was a lot of fun for the small person.)
The rooms were very clean and comfortable, and included the Westin-like beds, linens and shower. (Not quite as good as Westin's, but still, very good quality.)
A note for business travelers or those with long layovers, the second floor has the walkway to the terminals (B and C are easily accessed from the hotel, the others are a bit more complicated, might be better off with the shuttle), and there are many, many little groupings of two chairs and tables set up for those in transit, say after you've checked out but before you want to head to the airport itself.
The pool and exercise center are small, but adequate, there was no waiting on the weekday afternoon I was there. The lap pool is a little art-deco-style gem, with a bright, conservatory feel to it, plenty of towels and tables and chairs. There was only one other person swimming the day we were there (a rather handsome gentleman who elected to swim in his makeshift swimsuit of black underwear. Ay caramba. But that's neither here nor there).
We ate in the restaurant once, and ordered room service twice. The restaurant was a little slow for being deserted, but the service was very pleasant. Room service was much faster, and our breakfast ordered the night before was served right on time. The food, aside from a sadly overdone lump of salmon in my salmon salad, was a couple notches up from standard hotel fare. The calamari appetizer was fresh and exceeded expectations.
All in all, a perfect stop before the long flight home.
