“Nice place, but they nickel and dime you”

The convenience to the airport is nice, and the room was of a good standard. Tried to plug my laptop into the internet only to find that they charged $10 a day for access! This is the first hotel I've ever been in that charges like that. Also, if you want to have an informal business meeting in the restaurant, they charge you for that too. It's a little silly. I won't be going back until they stop charging for the internet.

“Nice Hotel, with $17 day parking”

Philadelphia Airport Marriott

The hotel is easily accessed off I-95 following airport arrival signs. Another sign alerts you tothe hotel. The room was a generous two doubles with avery clean bath with the usual ammenities. The noise from vehicular and jet traffic was near zero, even by the windows. be prepared to pay $17 a day for parking in the nearby lot reserved for hotel guests easily accesible to the hotel. There is also walking access to the airport terminal.

  • This TripAdvisor Member:
    • Liked — location off I-95, cleanliness and roomy
    • Disliked — the expensive parking at $17 a day and expensive wifi access 9.95 a day

“Very convenient to the airport”

Philadelphia Airport Marriott

Aug 16, 2008

The best thing about the Philly Airport Marriott is that it's attached to the airport. When I was ready to fly out, I just had to get out of bed, take the elevator to the 2nd floor, and walk to the terminal! It took less than 5 minutes. The hotel is nice and has nice beds. The bathroom is nothing special and felt a little dirty. They have a 25m lap pool and small gym. The restaurant is overpriced but is pretty much your only option as there are no other restaurants close by. There is a set $30 cab fare to and from downtown to the airport. The one major problem with the hotel was them losing some of our reservations. We had a lot of family staying that the hotel during a football game, and called in one morning to change the names on some of the reservations. When they tried to check in, they had lost 3 of our reservations. Since the hotel was not sold out that night, we were able to get them back. However, the hotel should not have had a problem with changing the names on reservations and we were disappointed with having to spend so much time on the phone with them trying to straighten this out.

“They gave away my room!”

Philadelphia Airport Marriott

2 of 5 stars
SF Bay Area
Aug 6, 2008

I was flying in on a red eye and wasn't due in until 7 am. Still, I wanted a room right away so that I'd be fresh for a business meeting that day. The travel agent who booked the room told the Marriott that I wasn't going to arrive until the a.m., and I called myself the day before and re-confirmed that I needed the room, was paying for the room, and would arrive at 7 a.m. I arrived and guess what...they ignored our previous information and sold out the room I had reserved. I had to sit around in the lobby, unshowed and unchanged after an over-night flight. It had a major impact on an important business meeting and the staff at the Marriott just seemed to shrug it off as an "oh well." They did get me a slightly early check-in for my second night, although it was in a second-choice style room.

Except for the awful start, the hotel was very nice. Rooms were big, well furnished, comfortable & clean. The restaurant is OK and the bar was fine too.

    • Liked — Right at the airport. Also, very comfortable beds.
    • Disliked — They sold out my room from under me.

“An oasis!”

Philadelphia Airport Marriott

5 of 5 stars
Phoenix, AZ
Aug 2, 2008

I visited this hotel July 21, 2008. We were just staying overnight after a long drive from visit with family in northeastern PA, so we were a bit travel-weary.

First, the staff. Every single person I spoke to, from the reservations agent to the room service waiter to the shuttle driver was incredibly friendly and accommodating, and went out of their way to be helpful. I couldn't have been more pleased. (OK, maybe i was coming off of four days with cranky extended family, but still!)

The soundproofing was excellent. If our connecting rooms hadn't had a view of the runway, I never would have known we were at an airport hotel. (And a note to parents - ask for a room with this view, it amused my 5-year-old for HOURS. You can also see the huge container ships from the Port of Philadelphia on the Delaware River, which was a lot of fun for the small person.)

The rooms were very clean and comfortable, and included the Westin-like beds, linens and shower. (Not quite as good as Westin's, but still, very good quality.)

A note for business travelers or those with long layovers, the second floor has the walkway to the terminals (B and C are easily accessed from the hotel, the others are a bit more complicated, might be better off with the shuttle), and there are many, many little groupings of two chairs and tables set up for those in transit, say after you've checked out but before you want to head to the airport itself.

The pool and exercise center are small, but adequate, there was no waiting on the weekday afternoon I was there. The lap pool is a little art-deco-style gem, with a bright, conservatory feel to it, plenty of towels and tables and chairs. There was only one other person swimming the day we were there (a rather handsome gentleman who elected to swim in his makeshift swimsuit of black underwear. Ay caramba. But that's neither here nor there).

We ate in the restaurant once, and ordered room service twice. The restaurant was a little slow for being deserted, but the service was very pleasant. Room service was much faster, and our breakfast ordered the night before was served right on time. The food, aside from a sadly overdone lump of salmon in my salmon salad, was a couple notches up from standard hotel fare. The calamari appetizer was fresh and exceeded expectations.

All in all, a perfect stop before the long flight home.
