We stayed at this hotel for 3 days in late May. It is centrally located in downtown Philadelphia, an easy walk to most places that we wanted to visit. We also discovered that we could catch the Philly Phlash bus just 5 or 6 blocks away near the Reading Terminal Market. This is great for tourists as it makes a round trip from Penn Station to the Philadelphia Art Museum, stopping at most places of interest and arrives every 12 minutes. We loved it because as seniors we could ride free.
We had a corner room on the 14th floor of the hotel. It was quiet and comfortable and reasonably roomy. The bath was a little on the small side, but the sink and vanity were in a alcove outside the bathroom, so we found it very convenient.
They serve the standard Holiday Inn Express complimentary hot breakfast (with a few additions). Free breakfasts are often hard to find in downtown hotels. The large breakfast room is in the front of the hotel on the street side and appears to have been a restaurant before the hotel became a Holiday Inn Express.
The staff were very nice and helpful. We had booked our room on the hotel website two or three months in advance and got a very good rate. When the bill was slipped under our door on the morning of our departure, it was a considerably higher rate. We pointed this out to the folks at the front desk and they were very considerate in correcting the bill to the original quoted rate.
