We were given one of the refurbed rooms on the 7th floor. All rooms are being redone and there are only 2 floors to go. Our room had all new furniture, flat screen TV, new beds and new bath. Shower only, but all marble/granite. Room safe in closet with 2 robes. Granite top counter inside the door with mirror but no sink. Mini-bar in the cabinet. Furnishings are light colored and bright. IPOD dock with clock radio. Newspaper and turndown daily. Room was "no smoking" but smelled. The smell seemed to come from the HVAC unit. Took one meal in the Cafe and were disappointed. One of the best finds is the Expresso coffee shop where there is breakfast and lunch available. Bar/lounge is always great. Service was always attentive, although when I called to front desk, bellman or concierge, they called me by someone else's name.

The one surprise was riding up the elevator with a couple with 2 standard poodles! If I could smell them in the elevator, what was their room going to smell like, and would I like to walk around barefoot in that room?

Yes, I must admit I was skeptical before booking, but overall I am glad that we (my wife and I) stayed here during 4th of July weekend. Service was impeccable and represented the Ritz Carlton standard. We had a great time. I must admit the hotel is old and has seen better days. I was told that the property is going on its 20th year of being in service. We had a renovated room and we were upgraded to the "club" level, which was a nice addition to the weekend. The location is nice as well as we did a lof of shopping. Overall, a nice place to spend the weekend with great customer service, but if you want newer it is not here yet.

We stayed at this hotel for one night over July 4th weekend. We live in the area and were aware that the hotel rooms were undergoing complete renovations over the last few months. They did a wonderful job. We stayed in a standard room and it has been changed from old to all new. Hardwood foyers, built in bar, flat screen tv, updated bathroom with rainhead shower (although the water pressure is too low to make a difference there) all new carpet, bedlinens and window treatments, etc. The rooms are very small but cozy.

The rest of the hotel was the same. We ate dinner in the bar area and it was very good. Breakfast buffet was included with our room rate and it was also good. Service was what you would expect at the RC.

The fitness center and indoor pool both leave a lot to be desired and they should probably be renovated next.

All in all it was a pleasant stay.

I was a little nervous booking this hotel after reading some of the other reviews. I am definitely glad did. I saw no signs of renovation or construction. When I checked in, the staff was very accommodating. The clerk advised me that for twenty dollars more, I could change my reservation to a package that included valet parking and breakfast ($100.00 value). They also upgraded me to a suite, not a bad deal for $219.00 total. The suite had a very large bedroom\master bath, living room, and a half bath in the entry. (Kind of nice when the other half is hogging the bathroom). The breakfast buffet was great and included some very unique offerings. The concierge helped with transportation to a concert and directions to local shopping. The hotel is beautiful and the staff was excellent. The only thing I could find wrong was the shower was a little low on pressure. I would highly recommend this hotel.
