stayed here with hubby on our way to canada and on our way back home. had three nights on the way over and two on the way back. found the hotel room to be to our liking, and well cleaned, maybe a little dated but certainly not shabby. the staff were friendly and helpful and check in and out were quick. views were just what we had hoped for and have some lovely photos from the balcony. hotel has a coin laundry which was much needed. the beach is directly across the street and easy to access. my only complaint was that the A/C was freezing and no matter how much we turned it down it was still to cold for our liking. the room we had on the way back home was different and much larger, with a better view. we had breakfast in the resturant as the food and price were good, but dinner was quite expensive and so we ate elsewhere. having said all this we would definately recommend this hotel to others

“A very good place to stay”

We stayed here for three nights, before boarding our cruise. We paid $180 per night, which included all taxes, parking, and a continental breakfast. Based on what we paid for everything else in Honolulu, this was a very good deal.

The room was clean, comfy, and had a very good view of the beach. The balcony was very nice to sit out and enjoy the sights. We did not eat at any of the restaurants at this hotel, so I cannot tell you anything about them, other than they looked like they were doing a pretty good business.

We are both runners and like to walk, so this hotel was in a great location as far as being within close proximity to good shopping, restaurants, etc. It is right across the street from the beach, which is very nice.

If you have kids, you not only have the oceanarium in this hotel, you are within walking distance of the Honolulu Zoo.

“We loved the Pacifi Beach Hotel”

Pacific Beach Hotel

We had a great time at the Pacific Beach hotel. We had a partial ocean view room that gave us a fantastic view of the beach - and the city. The room also came with free breakfast. The location was fantastic. We walked around Waikiki. We were steps from the beach! I know that some people have written negative reviews. It is true that the furniture is old and the beds are not the best. But the Pacific Beach is much cheaper than 5-star hotels just down the street. I know that some people expect the best for $150 per night- but remember this is Waikiki. The Hyatt charges $400+ per night for ocean view rooms. This is not a five star hotel. But for Waikiki you get a great view, a great location and good value for the money.

“Location is great but remember it's only 3 star hotel”

There is no doubt that the position of Pacific Beach Hotel is just wonderful. Across the road from a nice, slightly less crowded part of Waikiki, easy walking distance to everything and a bus stop close by. The ABC shop was so convenient.

I must admit that I was worried about staying here due to some bad reviews but overall this hotel suited our family and I would stay again. (We had been here 3 years ago and were happy to come back).

The staff were helpful and happy. ( We were told that this is the only hotel in Waikiki that is owned and run by locals) Check in was easy and quick.

The first room we were allocated was next to the lift well and quite noisy so I telephoned the front desk and they found us another room in a quieter location straight away.

The furniture is a little worn and the carpet could be nicer but to be honest for the amount we paid (approx AUD$200 per night which included breakfast) in this location I think it was fine. We had 2 adults and 2 teenagers in the room with 2 double beds and although it was not overly spacious it was quite adequate for our family.

This is not a luxury hotel and you will be disappointed if you are expecting 5 star accomodation. Our room was certainly clean and the bathroom was clean too. No mold or hair that others have reported.

Breakfast was included for us and we really enjoyed the large selection of hot and cold food The staff in the restaurants were so attentive and helpful.

The oceanaruim is so impressive. It is a constantly changing delight. A nice way to start the day. The breakfast hours were from 5.30am to 11.00am so we liked that we could be there anytime.

For a reasonably priced ,3 star hotel in a great position I would certainly recommend this hotel.

“Oceanfront room was so shabby and disgusting”

Pacific Beach Hotel

I really want to love this hotel but sadly cannot offer a glowing recommendation. I booked here because I knew my daughter would enjoy the oceanarium (and had stayed previously on business; evidently I have short-term memory loss).

Pros: 1) the location is awesome - 10 to 15 minute walk to the zoo, aquarium and international market; 2) We had an oceanfront room, with the most amazing view; 3) The buffet was satisfactory but rather expensive (wait, that is a pro and con); 4) Front desk and housekeeping were all friendly - no problems; 5) ABC store in the lobby so convenient (yes I know, there are 5 of those stores on every block......lol) 6) Fridge handy for cold drinks and fruit

Cons: 1) Our room was positively disgusting - we had to walk around in shoes for fear of catching a gross 'carpet disease; 2) The room was dirty with literally a 4 inch layer of static electricty on the TV - perhaps previously dusted in 1985; 3) The bathroom was small and fairly gross - the shower didn't drain properly and there was dirt and hair in all the nooks and crannies 4) Ah yes, and the bed - I am sure sleeping on a park bench would have been more comfortable

I guess for the price, if you don't mind having dirt, and furniture from the 1970's, this place may be for you,
