Checked into hotel the Friday before the pro-bowl and it was a busy place. The front desk staff was working fast to get others checked in and assured me they would get to me soon. I was in no hurry so I didn't mind and they gave me an extra cookie for being patient. The first room I had was ocean view on the 7th floor. Room was nice and I had a small wedge view of the water but because of the overnight noise level of other occupants on the floor, I asked to switch rooms the next day. I had booked a city/mountain view room so I must have lucked out at check in to get the ocean view room. The next afternoon the hotel staff was very accommodating and moved me to the 12th floor to a corner room. This time I was facing the city/mountain side (like I booked) and faced a large apartment building. I think the room was smaller and it was not very clean (dusty) but it was quiet and since I was there for a business trip, much appreciated.
The rooms have a small refrigerator but no honor bar. There are safes but in my second room it was not bolted down so I didn't use it. There are Neutrogena products in the bathrooms and the beds are very comfortable with lots of pillows. My second room had a couple of bottles of water on the wet bar.
The staff at the hotel bar was great and the food was good too. I recommend the macadamia crusted mahi mahi. There is a Cheeseburgers Hawaii next door to the hotel and I had a pretty sad burger there. There is an ABC store, Subway and a 7-11 right around the corner from the cheeseburger place. Lots of shops and restaurants in walking distance but the beach was a bit further than I would have liked. I heard a rumor you could use the amenities at the Hilton Village but I didn't check that out.
Nice hotel for a business trip but I would probably not book this hotel for a vacation since it was just average.
