Taxis are not all yellow, so look for the taxi light on top of any ordinary looking car. And of course you'll be driven by Montreal drivers, so hold on! There are taxi stands all through downtown, and you're not supposed hail a passing cab within sight of a stand. Taxis all use meters, you don't negotiate, and there is a fixed price to travel from/to the airport and the downtown core and it is exactly CAD $38.00.

You can phone for a cab, too, but you'll have to give an address — simply look for the number of a building and stand in the doorway. The four biggest companies are: Taxi Diamond (514-273-6331), Taxi Co-op (514-725-9885), Taxi Hochelaga (514-256-9033), and Taxi Champlain (514-273-2435). A complete list can be found on www.canada411.com. If you're going to the airport, you might want to book a limosine in advance.

Booking a limousine is easy and efficient. Once you have their card, you never need to use a taxi again. It will run you $50 CAD each way.
