While taxis and rental cars are available in Sitges, they are not the recommended way to travel. Narrow streets and congestion, especially during the high mark of the tourist season, can mean long, bothersome waits looking for meager parking space. However, if you are set on either idea, the following information can help.

There are a number of cab companies, including Catalonia Taxi, Taxi Mercedes, Servi Taxi, and Radio Taxi Metropolitano, all based in Barcelona. Go to  http://www.infotaxi.org/city-230.htm   for more information. The taxis are a distinctive black and yellow (think "bumblebees"). They run all night, which is one advantage they have over the subway., and a wait for one may take as long as 20 minutes. Not too bad.

Another advantage of taking a taxi is that it goes to some places the Metro or bus system doesn't. Look for a green light on top of the car. If it's on, that means it's available. If not, it is already in transport with the fortunate one who hailed it before you. A "taximeter" will calculate your bill. Pay that and a tip if you want. You'll pay more at night. It always helps to be able to speak a little of the language, but if you at least have an address, you'll get where you want to go.

The major car rental companies are available: Hertz, Budget, Avis, etc. (also called "car hire"). Car Hire Sitges will help you find a car rental to fit your needs.
