It comes as no surprise that Verona has great offerings when it comes to architecture. Like most of Italy, great tributes to the grandeur of Roman design still stand proud today. There is certainly no shortage of monuments displaying great architecture of our world's time in Verona.

The Duomo, or cathedral was built in the 12th century and is a fine example of Romanesque design with some gothic detailing. It sits where else, but Duomo Square.

Walking around Piazza Delle Erbe will make you feel as though you've chaved centuries away and are living in a history book. The Romanesque square is now known as a great place to shop as it is home to the market, but architecturally, it delights all. One of the most famous landmarks here, is the fountain "Madonna Verona" built in 1368. The fountain is always a hotspot for photos and serves as a locals meeting place.  Also a part of the square, the Tower Lamberti is Verona's highest tower and provides great panoramic views of the city; the tower dates back to 1172.

No architectural visit of Verona would be complete without a visit to the Arena, which can be found at the end of Piazza Bra. This amphitheater hosts opera shows and has been doing so for many, many years. The structure was built about 2,000 years ago!

Whatever your knowledge level may be as far as architecture is concerned, Verona, Italy will not fail to amaze you.
