Taxis are very comfortable and clean, you only pay what is on the meter. Most of the drivers are from the Indian sub continent and will have a chat with you, if they speak English. You can pick one up on the street easily.
- 'Dieria' gold, spice souks - about 20 minutes to half an hour journey 30 -40 dirhams about £6.00.

At rush hour it can be very difficult to flag down a taxi, be warned locals do not queue! It is a case of every man/woman for themselves. Taxis are cheap and friendly. Traffic can be very heavy in the evenings making it impossible to get from the beach area to old Dubai. Driving here is not for the faint hearted, cutting in and agressive driving are normal as is excessive use of the horn.
